Went to see the Rembrandt show up at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and I always forget until I look close, how he managed to marry both smoothness and rough texture all in one portrait. Because yes, I’ve actually had people complain that my portrait are too smooth, too satin finish, or look plastic because they are near flawless.
