Meissen Porcelain

For whatever reason, I’ve been interested in Meissen pieces. While on the one hand I find them fussy and in bad taste, I can see how it would work if you over did things — in the spirit of Tony Duquette. I suppose they are rather sweet; something my grandmother would have loved no doubt, and if you cluttered a table setting with them, I think it could work. Especially in a dining room with gilt, silver, gold, anything like that. Surely not for the minimalist.

Sometimes the most expensive things can be made to look cheap, and the cheapest made to look valuable. I always find it interesting what is considered to be of good taste or chic; sometimes gaudy awfulness and avant-garde triumphs are so close, yet so far apart. Your thoughts?
