They will be released November 15th, 2017 which is earlier than I had anticipated but hey, makes a good Christmas gift, right? The last two runs sold out within 9 hours, and over a weekend respectively, so this way you are guaranteed a copy.
By the way, the show GURLS has been extended at FB69 Galerie if you would like to purchase an original. Here’s a new interview in Scene Magazine about my GURLS, btw!
This has to be the only time I’ve ever scheduled an art show around a concert, but it all worked out very well. I had a great time in Dublin, Ireland seeing The Jesus and Mary Chain with Mel Butler and John Butler. I was deaf in one ear for a good week after standing in front of William’s amp! There was an afterparty thrown at Garage Bar which was highly appropriate; they hosted my husband’s book party on our last trip. We also took a tour of the Caravaggio show at the National Gallery, had a private tour at Radio8 (Thanks Dan!), saw a number of bands at my favorite haunt Whelan’s, waved hello to the Prime Minister as his motorcade was off to the Hot Press party (we were invited but it conflicted with JAMC) and made the rounds at all the pubs on my list as per usual.
Then it was a flight over to Münster, Germany for my show of drawings. I’m totally in love with Münster, by the way. I like that it’s walkable, has architecture exactly how I pictured it in my mind, and the fact that there was a whole lot of candy. Everyone has a dog (or so it seems) that are welcome in all establishments. I even recognized a lot of paintings in their art museum! Easter Sunday service at the very impressive cathedral was surreal as well. I’m just glad I didn’t burst into flames upon entering. We stayed with my fabulous gallerist and his partner, where they live in a former zoo keeper’s residence, where the ape habitat once was. It was appropriately named Monkey Hill. I guess the zoo keeper had a favorite monkey that he would let drink beer. Why not?
Anyway, here’s a bunch of photos and a little bit of video. I’m sure there’s more, but this will do.
I’m headed to Germany for the first time since I was a toddler!
My solo show GURLS opens with a preview Thursday,April 13th from 6-8pm (first 20 people get a signed mini print) and then the reception on Friday,April 14th at FB69 Galerie in Münster.
We will have limited copies of my sold-out zine on hand, as well as a show of all my drawings. There will be posters for sale, too! I hope to see you there, and I’m really excited to spend some time in this city.
GURLS was conceived in sketchbooks while Arabella was recovering in bed from multiple surgeries, and oil painting was no longer an option. Sarcastic, silly, and in a loose style that deviates from the painting she has been known for, her GURLS comment on the current state of technology, relationships, and “first world problems”.
Very unexpectedly, I sold out of my first run of US printing for my zine GURLS, which was made initially for my solo show of the same name opening at FB69 Galerie in Germany next month on April 14th. (Yes I will be in attendance if you are near Munster!)
I didn’t get a chance to make a formal announcement, it was just posted throughout my social media outlets, but the US edition sold out within 9 hours!
There will be a second run up for sale in my shop starting Friday, March 17th at 10:30am ET.
GURLS is 70+ glossy pages of my drawings and snappy sarcastic comments to accompany them. Truth be told, I write them in the voice of Bobby Brown if he were yelling real loud, so I hope that enhances your experience. I know a lot of you have told me you want a copy and missed out last weekend, so set your alarms because I can’t “save a copy” for you even if you know me in the meat world.
