As some of you know, last weekend was the symposium at University of Michigan honoring my father and the company he created with my mom. I’m still waiting for the video from the webcast to be posted so I link that along with some of my own content. Sadly I didn’t get as much as I would have liked in terms of photos and video — too busy catching up with people I hadn’t seen in 12 to 20 years or more!
I’ve also been a little overwhelmed with more follow-up on the oncology end of things, doing 3 book covers, and doing work for a few shows. But here are some things…
Of course I did a very sarcastic piece for the group show “Obsolete” coming up October 11th…
My husband’s novel is off at the printer and pre-orders will be up soon. Here our cat Ike approves…
My mini show at Deering Vintage is staying up through the month due to increased interest (they are fashionably fabulous, after all). And speaking of fashion, my November and January Fashion Illustration classes in Lakewood, are open for registration.
The Lil BUB art show at Spoke Art was a great success and all of the work even made it to Buzzfeed.
Here’s the video of when the Discovery Channel stopped by….
I thought I give you a list of upcoming shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Cleveland, Tel Aviv, and even Melbourne, that I’m participating in.
And for those of you in Cleveland, the September 6th event is when I will be formally launching my new fashion illustration classes for adults! If you can’t make it to the event, there will be an announcement with a link to registration here on my blog that day.
Current – October 30th: “Plain” book exhibition @ Beit Ha’ir Urban Culture Museum in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Deering Vintage and Cooperative Press present a stylish evening of art, fashion, and vintage finds…with me!
Save the date: Friday, September 6th from 5pm to 8pm
This will be a mini art show as well as a signing of my book and my art catalog, “Ephemeral Antidotes”. Come shop, sip, and learn more about my upcoming fashion illustration classes that I’m, finally, doing for adults (starting October 1st, $75 for 4 weeks). And if you’ve ever been to Deering Vintage, you know the accessories alone are amazing!
This summer I’ll be teaching Fashion Illustration during the BayARTS Summer Camp Art program in June!
This is for ages 12 and older. Through drawing assignments, samples and demonstrations, you will learn to create poses, render textiles & patterns, as well as create your own clothing designs. This is for all levels of drawing skills, you don’t have to know how to draw; we’ll be using croquis and I’ll show you how to draw everything from sequins to chiffon to houndstooth prints. I show you how to make your own figures and croquis as well.
I’m really excited about this, because it has been ages since I taught fashion illustration — always so fun to see what people come up with. Also, I’m pretty fun as a teacher, so there.
