The Immaculate and Fabulous Mary

I was flipping through a book on La Belle Otero and there was a cute ceramic sculpture of Mary from her childhood church in Spain. I thought, “well hey, I could make one of those icon thingies. Except I can make it cooler!” I also had a big gold gaudy frame that would fit her perfect. I’ll admit I don’t know much about Roman Catholic beliefs or anything, but hey, any excuse to throw tattoos and leopard print on someone — you know?

She’s itty bitty, 5×7 inches, oil on panel. I’m calling her “Fab Mary” for short.
